Set just on the outskirts of downtown streets filled with buttoned up bed and breakfasts, AWOL is intended to be the place to come as you are and without pretense or prescription imposed through design. No shiplap, no rope knots or anchors or nautical stripes. No tufted club chairs or floral wallpaper, and nothing particularly refined. It’s a place where we wanted the serenity of the inside of the room to compliment the beauty of its surroundings. The guest rooms are seductive in a tattered, natural, no fuss or frills kind of way—the naked of design—reflecting back on nature and the unperfect that makes it beautiful. All of this though, without taking ourselves too seriously. We expect AWOL to be an escape, to or from. As the name denotes, absent without leave—a place where no one needs to know where you are, or who you are, unless you choose. The outdoor space at AWOL will feature several areas made for gathering and equally as many made for privacy. AWOL is meant to be the P-Town experience to be whoever you want to be without the feeling of design creating rules for your behavior.
